Supernova One - Rigid

Supernova One - Rigid

The One is a rigid screen with the screen surface bonded to an absolutely flat section of aircraft-grade aluminum. This makes for a light weight, durable screen perfect for home theaters, conference rooms, classrooms, and even small auditoriums or worship venues. By being a rigid surface it will not "blow in the breeze" of HVAC units. Plus, no assembly is required - just hang on the wall or place on the optional floor stand, plug in your projector and enjoy the visual experience. Available in wide angle 08-85 or high gain 23-23 surfaces.

Supernova Core - Flexible

The Core uses a flexible screen surface that stretches across a lightweight aluminum frame. This makes it easy to move and convenient to ship. The black velvet trim makes a handsome statement in any board room, classroom, training room, small auditorium or worship venue, and even home theater. The Core ships unassembled, making it the perfect solution where maneuvering a large rigid screen up stairs or around corners would be an issue. The surface is stretched tightly so it doesn't blow in the breeze either. Optical performance is identical to the One screen, with surface selection of wide angle (08-85) or high gain (23-23) and available in 4:3, 16:9 and 16:10 aspects.

The Infinity is a modular screen system that can grow to incredible sizes. The unique aluminium frame structure transforms the revolutionary One Screen into a building block for creating large-scale displays in any size you need. Modular assembly is required on site.

Supernova Flex - Retractable

The original Flex puts the revolutionary screen surface in a innovative, aesthetic, space saving design to deliver a high-quality front projection screen that is retractable. The patented design of the Flex suspends the screen by thin cables giving it a unique "floating" appearance. This feature allows for a center channel speaker or videoconferencing camera to be mounted above the screen - a feat impossible with other electric roll-up screens.  Surface wall-mounts (shown) and recessed ceiling mounts are available.  Wireless remote control is included.

Understanding Surface Types

Installation Notes

Supernova achieves its outstanding quality by absorbing light from ABOVE or BELOW the screen. 
There are some things to note regarding installation:

  • It is critical that the projector be mounted within 5 degrees of the TOP or BOTTOM of the screen, the "Projection Range (see diagram). 
  • If a projector is positioned above or below this "projection range," the screen will absorb the projected light like ambient light.  Since most projectors are designed to be positioned perpendicular with the top or bottom of the screen to avoid keystoning, just mount the projector without tilting it.  (Remember, ceiling projectors must be mounted upside-down for native keystone correction to work properly.)  NOTE:  The Mobile screen surface is optimized for tabletop projection only.
  • Ultra-short-throw projectors, by nature, position the projector outside this Projection Range.  These include "Whiteboard" projectors that mount above the screen close to the wall, and floor-mount short-throw projetors. You will achieve optimum performance with a "standard" lens that positions the projector at least 2x the screen height away from the screen.
  • Supernova is most effective when strong ambient lighting is outside this "projection range." Overhead fluorescent, down lights, track lights, stage lights, skylights or high-bay vapor lights are effectively absorbed.
  • Ambient light sources located within the "projection range" may affect screen performance if they are bright point-source lights.  This includes table lamps with bare bulbs or bright translucent shades, wall sconces with bright glass lenses, low-hanging chandeliers, windows with direct sun or bright outside objects that reflect the sun inside (car windows or white walls).  Dark lampshades or sconce covers that direct light upwards to bounce off the ceiling are preferable to translucent ones.  For bright sun or reflection situations, window treatments that diffuse light or redirect sunlight away from the screen are recommended.  (Even with bright ambient light in the projection range, Supernova will have superior black levels as compared to Matte White.) 
  • If you cannot shade point source lights or windows, the 23-23 surface will work better than 08-85. 
  • Active shutter 3D projectors will work with Supernova.  However the Supernova surface diffuses polarized light, so it will not work with any of the polarized 3D systems.
  • Before purchasing a One screen or preassembled Infinity screen, be sure you can maneuver the assembled screen into the room.  If you have tight stairs or corridors, you are advised to use a Core screen or an unassembled Infinity.
